Cumberland Gardens is a large-scale over-50s retirement village located in Wallsend, NSW. The development comprises a mix of high-quality single dwellings and duplexes, designed to support independent, low-maintenance living within a vibrant community.

Duration & Scope

Our team was engaged to deliver full masonry services across the estate. This included:

• Construction of over 50 homes, including both single dwellings and duplexes
• Installation of extensive split-face block retaining walls along the entire estate frontage
• Delivery of multiple internal retaining wall structures to suit the site’s varying levels and drainage requirements

Challenges & Achievements

The project presented a number of technical and logistical challenges, including:

• Staging and Coordination: Seamless coordination with multiple trades across staged handovers
• Site Topography: Complex level changes across the estate required precision in setting out and stepped retaining structures
• Aesthetic Consistency: Achieving high-quality finishes and consistent gauge across long runs of split-face blocks

Despite the scale and complexity, the project was delivered on time and to specification, with zero call-backs on masonry and a strong working relationship maintained with the site supervisors and builder.
